Inks Bridge is a historic “TRUSS BRIDGE” and was built in 1936 to carry State Highway 29 (now State Highway 16) over the Llano River. The structure as beautiful and magnificent. The Inks Bridge replaced an earlier 1892 truss bridge at this location, which had been swept away by a 42-foot flood crest on June 14, 1935 The Inks Bridge was designed by the Texas Highway Department’s Bridge Division during the fall of 1935. My painting is from a trip to the hill country in the Fall of 2014 where we passed through Llano Texas on our way to Fredricksburg.
